WHAT IS THE START PROJECT?
The SCAA is proud to present a new member benefit that will help build stronger relationships in coffee. By late summer, SCAA members will have access to a database that can better quantify work in sustainability and encourage collaboration around development projects. The START system will be provided to members for a low annual fee to better quantify the work being done by individual companies and organizations across the supply chain, specifically recognizing efforts towards the UN’s Millennium Development Goals (MGDs). The database will allow you to compile information about annual volumes of coffee, data around operations, the impact of projects funded in coffee-producing communities, and employee volunteer work. It will allow members of the industry to better identify, post, and search for needs so more collaboration can improve the quality of life in communities around the world. It can help you lessen your environmental impact and chart your carbon footprint. And it will give you a way to show your company’s progress year over year for the hard work that you do.
