Hours: variable, increases as 2011 Event approaches
Travel required: 7 days in Houston for Event

SCAA Volunteers Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Professional Development
Direct Reports: none


Summary

The SCAA Volunteers Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers for and at SCAA events. The volunteer positions include primarily those for our annual Event, totaling approximately 350 individuals in 20 positions, (3,000+ hours) over 7 days. Additional volunteer positions include 10-15 individuals at approximately 15 smaller SCAA Events throughout the year. Volunteers are industry participants wishing to add value to their professional development and their business objectives through volunteering. SCAA volunteer positions range from the highly specialized and skilled to the very general and basic, and for all volunteers, it is critical that the Volunteers Coordinator is able to identify the positions that provide maximum value to both the volunteer and to SCAA.

Essential Functions

- Manage existing job descriptions for SCAA volunteer positions
- Recruit volunteers to fill volunteer positions at SCAA events through personal and mass communication approaches
- Train volunteers
- Design and implement a volunteer recognition program
- Report volunteer demographic data
- Represent SCAA in a warm and positive way that attracts volunteers to the organization
- Provide a valuable experience for volunteers to ensure sustainability of SCAA Volunteers Program

- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and ability to learn and use SCAA’s proprietary database software

This is a part-time, non-exempt position based in Long Beach, CA or remotely
