GLOBAL ISSUES

World Coffee Research is the collaborative research and development program of the global coffee industry to grow, improve, and protect supplies of quality coffee. Managed by the Norman Borlaug Institute for International Agriculture of the Texas A&M University System, WCR was created thanks to the support to the Global Coffee Quality Research Initiative (GCQRI) by several forward-thinking companies of the coffee industry.

Supplies of quality coffee are in danger due to the looming threat of climate change and lack of biodiversity. The goal of WCR is to collaborate with national and international research and extension organizations to conduct research on climate change, biodiversity, and coffee cup quality. WCR’s research results will be applied to protect the livelihoods of coffee producers and to strengthen the coffee industry as a whole. WCR is your company’s research and development department and we need your support.
